How to maintain a medical bedside table to extend its lifespan?

Medical overbed tables are frequently utilized in hospital wards, and proper routine maintenance is crucial for ensuring their durability and operational safety. The following constitutes a professional maintenance guide to extend the service life of medical overbed tables, focusing on three core maintenance procedures.
First and foremost, Regular Cleaning and Disinfection: When cleaning the tabletop, it is recommended to use a neutral detergent (e.g., mild soap) with a soft cloth for wiping. Abrasive cleaning tools such as steel wool should be avoided to prevent scratches on the stainless steel surface. After cleaning, the tabletop must be thoroughly rinsed with clean water and dried immediately to prevent water spot residue and subsequent corrosion. For stubborn stains, a 5% white vinegar solution can be applied, followed by a thorough rinse. In compliance with hospital hygiene protocols, the tabletop should be disinfected with a 70% alcohol solution weekly to inhibit bacterial growth.
Secondly, Periodic Comprehensive Inspection: Monthly inspections should be conducted to check for loose screws and joints. If any looseness is detected, tighten them with a screwdriver promptly. Special attention should be paid to verifying the functionality of wheel lock mechanisms; in case of jamming, silicone spray can be used for lubrication. Simultaneously, inspect the tabletop for cracks or deformation, and report any damage to equipment maintenance personnel immediately.
Thirdly, Strict Adherence to Weight-Bearing Specifications: The maximum weight capacity of such medical overbed tables is typically 10kg. Overloading must be strictly prohibited during daily use to avoid damaging the lifting mechanism or tabletop. Heavy items such as medical equipment and large containers should not be placed on the tabletop, and the weight of placed items should be evenly distributed.
Additional Maintenance Tips: When not in use, the overbed table should be stored in a dry and well-ventilated environment, away from damp areas to prevent rusting. Avoid dragging the table across rough surfaces; instead, lift the table slightly during movement to minimize wheel wear. Worn wheels or components should be replaced promptly with standard-compliant spare parts.
By adhering to the aforementioned maintenance protocols, the service life of medical overbed tables can be extended to more than 5 years, effectively reducing equipment replacement costs and ensuring their long-term stable performance.
